:In a significant leap for patient care innovation, Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has introduced Qatar’s—and the region’s—first Neurocardiac Rehabilitation Program. This pioneering initiative addresses the complex needs of patients suffering from both cardiac and neurological conditions, setting a new standard for integrated healthcare services.
Developed in collaboration with HMC’s Heart Hospital and the Qatar Rehabilitation Institute’s (QRI) Corporate Rehabilitation Therapy Services, the program bridges a critical gap by aligning neurological recovery with cardiac care. This holistic approach is designed to enhance patients’ quality of life through comprehensive, multidisciplinary rehabilitation.
Transformative Patient Care
Spearheading this groundbreaking effort is Dr. Hanadi Al-Hamad, Deputy Chief of Rehabilitation, Long-Term Care, and Geriatrics, and Lead of Corporate Rehabilitation Therapy Services. Dr. Al-Hamad emphasized the program’s importance:
“The launch of neurocardiac rehabilitation represents a critical milestone in our pursuit of holistic patient care. By addressing the dual needs of patients with both cardiac and neurological conditions, we are not only advancing individual health outcomes but also setting a new standard for integrated rehabilitation services.”
The Neurocardiac Rehabilitation Program combines expertise in neurorehabilitation and cardiac rehabilitation. It leverages advanced diagnostic and therapeutic tools, including telemetry, ECG analysis, exercise testing, and precision-based treatment plans. These tools ensure optimized recovery and promote long-term health resilience.
A Collaborative Milestone
Dr. Nidal Asaad, CEO and Medical Director of HMC’s Heart Hospital, hailed the program as a transformative step:
“By addressing both cardiac and neurological challenges, this initiative enhances patient outcomes and establishes a new model for rehabilitation services.”
Dr. Manal Al-Shamari, Program Manager of Cardiac Rehabilitation, underscored the collaborative nature of the program:
“This initiative fills a vital gap in patient care flow. By bridging the specialties of neurorehabilitation and cardiac rehabilitation, we’re ensuring patients with neurocardiac conditions receive the comprehensive care they need for improved recovery and outcomes.”
A New Benchmark in Healthcare Innovation
The program is a cornerstone of HMC’s Cardio Adapted Rehabilitation Excellence (CARE) initiative, a corporate-wide effort to embed cardiovascular principles across all rehabilitation practices. CARE reflects HMC’s commitment to advancing patient recovery and fostering resilience against future health challenges.
The launch of the Neurocardiac Rehabilitation Program reaffirms HMC’s leadership in healthcare innovation. By integrating cardiac and neurological rehabilitation, it establishes a global benchmark for interdisciplinary collaboration and patient-centered care, positioning Qatar as a leader in holistic health services.
