Sutter Health has announced a $1 billion investment to expand its services across Northern California’s East Bay region, including the development of a new flagship medical campus in Emeryville.
The planned campus will feature a state-of-the-art medical center with up to 200 beds and a regional hub for ambulatory care. Designed for future expansion, the facility aims to enhance access to specialized healthcare services in the area.
Spanning 12 acres, the ambulatory services complex will house a broad range of specialties, along with imaging and laboratory services. Sutter Health anticipates welcoming its first ambulatory patients as early as 2028.
The 335,000-square-foot medical center will include critical services such as labor and delivery, surgical care, intensive care, emergency services, and a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The facility’s design will also allow for future expansion of patient rooms as needed.
According to Sutter Health, the medical center is slated to open between 2032 and 2033, reinforcing its commitment to advancing healthcare access in the region.
