Centene Corporation shared its 2025 earnings guidance during its investor day, forecasting revenue between $166.5 billion and $169.5 billion. Premium and service revenue is projected to land between $154 billion and $156 billion, with anticipated earnings per share of at least $7.25.

The health insurer also acknowledged ongoing elevated utilization trends, estimating a medical loss ratio (MLR) between 88.4% and 89% for the year.

Centene CEO Sarah London highlighted the company’s mission-driven approach, stating:

“Centene is a mission-driven organization, dedicated to delivering high-quality outcomes for more than 28 million members, many of whom are among the nation’s most medically complex and historically underserved populations. Over the last three years, we improved our core operations and invested in the experience of our customers and providers, all while delivering on our financial commitments.”

2024 Outlook and Leadership Changes

Centene also reaffirmed its outlook for 2024, projecting premium and service revenue between $143.5 billion and $144.5 billion, and earnings per share of at least $6.80. The company expects an MLR between 88.3% and 88.5%. Full-year and fourth-quarter earnings will be reported on February 4, 2024.

Amid these updates, Centene announced that President Ken Fasola will retire next summer.

Industry Solidarity After Tragedy

Centene’s investor day was conducted virtually following the recent passing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, who tragically lost his life on December 4. Addressing the incident, CEO Sarah London extended her condolences:
