UAE Strengthens Global Digital Leadership with Major Healthcare Innovation
UAE, 07 Oct 2024 – Coinciding with the official visit of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) unveiled a significant investment of AED 370 million to spearhead Jordan’s digital health transformation. This project underscores the UAE’s leadership in advanced technology and reflects its commitment to supporting sustainable development through cutting-edge digital solutions.
This initiative aligns with Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision 2023-2025, a broad framework of economic reforms, supported by the UAE’s overall grant of AED 1.468 billion. The digital transformation of Jordan’s healthcare sector will be led by Emirati technology company Presight, in strategic collaboration with the Jordanian Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship. The project will unify Jordan’s healthcare system under a single, integrated digital platform, ensuring seamless information exchange across medical facilities nationwide.
Strategic Vision for Jordan’s Healthcare Digitalization
At the heart of this partnership is the creation of a unified health information exchange system, integrating all healthcare facilities in Jordan. The platform will support the exchange and storage of health data, improving accessibility, reliability, and overall system efficiency. Additionally, the project will pave the way for a next-generation virtual hospital, centralizing advanced medical care and connecting peripheral hospitals for enhanced coordination and service delivery.
The agreement was formalized during a signing ceremony, attended by senior officials from both countries, including His Excellency Mohamed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of ADFD, Her Excellency Zeina Toukan, Jordan’s Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, and His Excellency Sami Smeirat, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship in Jordan.
