Arada has acquired a significant controlling stake in Abu Dhabi-based Reem Hospital, marking the master developer’s strategic entry into the healthcare sector and accelerating its vision to build one of the region’s most comprehensive integrated wellness ecosystems.
The acquisition, representing more than 80% ownership of the business, was purchased from a consortium that included Investcorp, its affiliates and other shareholders, including previous strategic investors linked to Austria-based VAMED. The transaction forms part of Arada’s AED2 billion commitment towards expanding Reem Hospital’s footprint across the UAE.
Under the agreement, Reem Hospital’s original founders, led by Chairman Zaid Al Siksek and Board Member Mansur Ali, will continue to remain actively involved in the business, ensuring continuity in leadership and clinical vision that has supported the hospital’s rapid growth since inception.
As part of the next phase of expansion, Reem Hospital’s existing Reem Island facility will see its capacity doubled to 200 beds, alongside the introduction of new specialty services including women’s health and paediatrics. In addition, three new hospitals are planned across Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah.
Arada also plans to establish a nationwide network of Reem Clinics, including facilities integrated within its master-planned communities, aimed at bringing healthcare services closer to residents.
Ahmed Alkhoshaibi, Group CEO of Arada, said: “This acquisition is fully in line with our overarching vision to create spaces that enable people to lead happier, healthier and more meaningful lives. Through this partnership, we will be able to bring best-in-class healthcare not only to the residents of our communities but to patients across the UAE and beyond.”
He added that the acquisition also creates a new revenue stream for Arada while strengthening its broader wellness strategy, spanning preventive care, fitness, lifestyle, primary healthcare and specialty treatment.
Zaid Al Siksek, Chairman of Reem Hospital, said: “From the moment we began conversations with Arada, it was clear that this was the right partnership — a company that shares our values, as well as our relentless commitment to quality and delivery.”
He added that Arada’s vision, resources and extensive community platform would support Reem Hospital’s next phase of growth and innovation.
The acquisition is the latest in a series of strategic expansion initiatives by Arada as it strengthens its presence across sectors including hospitality, industry, asset management and wellness, while also expanding internationally into markets such as the United Kingdom and Australia.
