NYU Abu Dhabi has entered into a strategic partnership with RTW Investments to advance healthcare education and investment across the Middle East. The collaboration brings together RTW’s global biotechnology investing expertise with NYU Abu Dhabi’s academic platform to develop executive programs for industry leaders.
The partners plan to launch a flagship healthcare event and executive education program by late 2026. The initiative is designed to serve sovereign wealth funds, major institutions, and policymakers through specialized training focused on healthcare investing and emerging technologies.
“We are pleased to partner with RTW Investments, whose deep experience in biotechnology and healthcare brings valuable practical insight to this initiative,” said Amol Dani, Chief Operating Officer of NYU Abu Dhabi. “By combining that expertise with NYU Abu Dhabi’s executive education capabilities and academic perspective, we aim to deliver programs that help senior leaders better understand emerging developments in the sector.”
How It Works
The partnership will co-develop executive-level programs tailored for senior decision-makers across the Gulf region. Curriculum areas will include healthcare investing, innovation strategy, and policy alignment throughout GCC markets.
RTW contributes its experience as a New York–based investment firm specializing in biopharmaceutical and medical technology sectors, with operations spanning the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
NYU Abu Dhabi provides its academic infrastructure and faculty expertise. The university ranks as the highest globally positioned institution in the UAE in the latest Times Higher Education rankings, which place New York University among the world’s top 31 universities.
Why It Matters
The Middle East is rapidly emerging as a significant center for healthcare investment and innovation. The new partnership aims to address the growing need for well-informed leadership within the region’s life sciences ecosystem.
“Advancing healthcare innovation depends not only on scientific discovery, but also on sound policy, informed leadership, and sustained investment,” said Roderick Wong, Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer at RTW Investments. “This collaboration will support the development of a new cadre of leaders who can thoughtfully allocate capital and direct policy.”
The initiative also aligns with Abu Dhabi’s broader strategic priorities around economic diversification and knowledge-sector growth, seeking to strengthen connections between global capital, scientific talent, and policy frameworks.
The Context
The collaboration builds on an existing relationship between NYU and RTW Investments, reflecting both organizations’ shared focus on advancing medical innovation globally.
“We believe that innovation is the best medicine,” said Woody Stileman, Managing Director of Business Development at RTW Investments, who leads the firm’s Middle East efforts. “This partnership with NYU Abu Dhabi shows our commitment to supporting investment appetite and innovative thinking in the region.”
