Healthcare in the UAE just received a major international boost. Abu Dhabi-based healthcare powerhouse M42 has joined forces with the Medical Tourism Association (MTA) and Mastercard to expand access for patients worldwide. This strategic alliance positions the UAE not just as a regional medical hub, but as a global destination for world-class healthcare.

Under this collaboration, leading facilities such as Healthpoint and the Imperial College London Diabetes & Endocrine Centre will be featured on MTA’s flagship digital platform, Better by MTA, making it easier for international patients to connect, plan, and pay for their treatments in the UAE.

“This collaboration with MTA marks another major milestone in providing world-class healthcare and delivering a smooth patient experience,” said Dr. Ali Anees, Chief Operating Officer of M42’s Global Patient Care Platform. “It means patients worldwide can access top-quality healthcare, manage payments securely, and connect with our clinical teams — all in one place.”

How the Partnership Works

At the heart of the initiative is the Better by MTA platform, co-developed with Mastercard. The platform serves as a digital concierge for medical travel — removing red tape, ensuring safe transactions, and offering end-to-end coordination for global patients.

Key features include:

  • Simplified logistics: Streamlined booking, treatment coordination, and travel arrangements.
  • Secure payments: Mastercard’s technology ensures transparency and safety in every transaction.
  • Trusted access: Direct connections to M42’s network of accredited hospitals and specialty centers.

Currently, the platform connects over 1.3 million healthcare seekers annually and aims to double that number by 2025. As Gina Petersen-Skryme from Mastercard noted, “Simplifying how international patients pay for care can help make healthcare more accessible across borders.”
