Cigna Healthcare’s International Health division, through its Global Health Benefits (GHB) business, is partnering with Carrot Fertility to provide eligible customers and their covered spouses or partners with personalized fertility and hormonal health support—all at zero cost.
The GHB business offers comprehensive benefits and solutions for organizations with globally mobile employees. With this new collaboration, customers will gain access to expert education, guidance, and care management services tailored to their fertility journey.
“Our collaboration with Carrot offers a holistic, personalized approach to help our globally mobile customers navigate fertility journeys from wherever they are in the world,” said Wendy Sherry, CEO of Global Health Benefits at Cigna. “This program provides the information, expertise, and insights needed to support every stage of their health and well-being.”
What’s the Impact?
Carrot’s platform will give eligible GHB customers access to:
✅ Multilingual care management services with a network of 11,000+ providers, agencies, and attorneys across 170+ countries
✅ Unlimited chats with fertility and hormonal health experts, including OB/GYNs, doulas, emotional support specialists, and menopause experts
✅ On-demand expert-authored content, including educational videos, articles, and guides
Cigna describes the initiative as a “best-in-class” benefit, emphasizing its potential to improve patient care, drive value, and generate savings. The program is also designed to accommodate cross-border care, ensuring culturally relevant and locally tailored health solutions.
The Bigger Picture
Addressing fertility challenges and maternal care disparities remains a critical issue. A 2023 Health Affairs study highlighted the impact of racial and ethnic disparities on preterm births and low birth rates, urging payers, providers, and policymakers to take action.
Additionally, maternal care deserts—regions with little to no maternity care—are on the rise. A March of Dimes report found a 5% increase in counties with reduced maternity care access between 2020 and 2022, with 2% of U.S. counties classified as full maternal care deserts.
With initiatives like Cigna’s partnership with Carrot, organizations are working to expand reproductive healthcare access and bridge the growing gaps in fertility and maternal care worldwide.
