Teladoc Health has announced the acquisition of virtual preventive care provider Catapult Health in a $65 million deal, with an additional $5 million in potential earnout consideration. The move strengthens Teladoc’s capabilities in early disease detection and at-home diagnostic testing.
Catapult Health, now set to become a wholly owned subsidiary of Teladoc, reported a trailing 12-month revenue of $30 million as of Q3 2024. The acquisition is expected to close in the first quarter of 2025, pending customary regulatory approvals.
Expanding Virtual-First Preventive Care
Founded 15 years ago, Catapult Health initially operated as an on-site preventive health checkup service for employees. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the company transitioned to a virtual-first model, offering at-home diagnostic kits that enable patients to collect blood samples, check blood pressure, and undergo other health screenings.
Each kit is paired with a telehealth consultation with a nurse practitioner, who then develops a personalized health action plan. Teladoc reports that Catapult’s services have helped 30% of its members identify high blood pressure and 28% detect prediabetes for the first time.
Integration with Teladoc’s Chronic Care Management
Catapult Health serves hundreds of employer clients, covering over 3 million lives. According to a third-party health plan analysis, its VirtualCheckup solution generates more than $1,400 in cost savings per patient over three years.
Through this acquisition, Teladoc will integrate Catapult’s patients into its chronic disease management programs, including diabetes, hypertension, prediabetes, and weight management. Catapult’s clinicians will also be able to directly enroll qualified patients into Teladoc’s primary care and mental health services, streamlining access to comprehensive care.
This acquisition underscores Teladoc’s commitment to expanding virtual-first healthcare solutions, enhancing accessibility to preventive care and chronic condition management.
